Our Values-Based Program Philosophy

Programs offered by the A.R. Kaufman Family YMCA provide children (infancy to 12 years) with positive role models and help instill strong values such as acceptance, caring, balance, giving and responsibility. All programs aim to build competence and confidence in children in a safe environment for social and emotional growth.

Our youth programs (ages 13-17) provide the eight key building blocks that all young people need to grow into healthy successful responsible adults.

  • Support - experiencing people and places that are accepting and loving.
  • Empowerment - knowing you are valued and valuable.
  • Boundaries and Expectations - understanding both limits and possibilities.
  • Constructive Use of Time - being involved in enriching and structured activities.
  • Commitment to Learning - a sense of lasting importance for learning new skills and a belief in one's abilities.
  • Positive Values - caring for others and holding high standards for self.
  • Social Competencies - developing skills and relationships for life.
  • Positive Identity - believing in your personal power, purpose and potential.
