Saturday:7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Sunday:9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
* All program areas close 30 minutes before the building. Special events may necessitate early building closure.

Volunteer - Canvasser
Become A Canvasser For the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign

TIME COMMITMENT:
  • Two hour training
  • January to June; one to three hours per week

Attendance at some meetings required, canvassing can be done at times that suit your schedule

LOCATION: Most meetings will be at A.R. Kaufman Family YMCA
333 Carwood Avenue, Kitchener

You may also visit other locations throughout K-W, depending on the prospects you will be contacting.

BASIC JOB FUNCTION:
To conduct face-to-face canvassing to targeted prospects to raise money for the YMCA’s Strong Kids Annual Giving Campaign.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
To receive training about the YMCA and the Strong Kids Campaign.

  • To make your personal donation to the Strong Kids Campaign.
  • To meet ‘face-to-face’ with five to ten current donors and/or prospects and to tell them the YMCA story following the training and fundraising guidelines provided to you.
  • To work at all times within the KW YMCA Mission, philosophy and goals.
  • To work as a team with other volunteers and staff.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Communication: communicates in a thorough, clear and timely manner and supports information sharing and campaign goal achievement across the association.

Initiative: does the right thing at the right time without being asked.

Self Management: works independently within prescribed parameters, can discern the relevance of issues and communicate them effectively to their supervisor.

Note: In addition to the above competencies the Association Core Competencies are required, Commitment to Organization Vision and Values, Integrity, Service Orientation, Teamwork.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal Reference Check
  • Excellent Communication, Organization and People skills

Note: this volunteer position is seasonal from January to June, depending on campaign timelines.
